Europe has displayed a decreasing trend in age-standardized prevalent cases and Disability-adjusted life years (DALY) rates of these oral conditions from 1990 namely, -24.1% percent change in cases of untreated caries in deciduous teeth, -6.84% percent change in cases of untreated caries in permanent teeth, -25.7% percent change in cases of severe periodontitis and -43.6% percent change in cases of edentulism; a stark contrast compared to African and Eastern Mediterranean regions which display an increasing trend [ 2 ].
