Why, then, do the long‐term population trajectories of neither Arctic ringed seals (Figure 4c ) nor their lice (Figure 4b ) exhibit a parallel decrease during the LGM, and instead exceed the scale before the beginning of the Holocene around 10,000 years ago? As such, an increasing trend through the Holocene would not be unexpected, because post‐Pleistocene population recoveries or expansions have been found in many Arctic marine mammals (Foote et al., 2013 ; Louis et al., 2020 ; Skovrind et al., 2021 ; Westbury et al., 2019 ).
