Vildagliptin has been proven to have a marginally significant beneficial effect on intrahepatic lipid accumulation, but this is not sufficient to recommend the use of gliptins in the treatment of MASLD (although, on the other hand, international bodies agree that their use in the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes and concomitant fatty liver disease is safe in principle) [ 32 ].
