On the one hand, the results suggest an anaerobic metabolism; on the other hand, although an increasing trend of HR was observed after exercise in working dogs, the maximum HR recorded in the studied dogs was 170 beats/minute, a value well below the maximum heart rates for dogs reached during effort (300 beats/min) [ 22 ].
