The alumina loss under elevated temperatures is mainly caused by the enhanced desilication reaction, which promotes the formation of more desilication products (DSP) such as hydrated sodium aluminosilicate, and these products adsorb or incorporate soluble alumina from the liquor, thereby reducing the overall digestion efficiency. As the caustic concentration increases, the A/S ratio of the leaching solution shows a decreasing trend.
