Notably, the identification of OTUs belonging to Sphingomonas (OTU0054) and Lachnospiraceae (OTU0318) as differentially abundant between Dmbt1 −/− and Dmbt1 + / + and between precancer and OSCC diagnoses by both LSVCMM and fPCA analyses suggests that these OTUs may be significant for OSCC development and possibly regulated in some way by DMBT1.
