A permutation test of statistical significance (see Section 2 ) on all available data within the 40–50 kHz range showed average ΔOHC/BM’s for 60, 70, and 80 dB SPL nominal levels of 4.89, 3.82, and 3.38 with the probability that the average ΔOHC/BM would fall below 3 of P < 0.0001, P < 0.0001, and P = 0.087, respectively (i.e., highly significant at 60 and 70 dB and not significant at 80 dB).
