Cancer type showed a partially significant association, as patients with pancreatic and periampullary malignancies had a significantly higher hospitalization rate compared with those with hepatobiliary malignancies (IRR = 1.37; 95% CI: 1.08–1.74; P = 0.009), while the difference between gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary malignancies was not statistically significant.
