While the estimated associations between short‐term exposures to PM 2.5 and morbidity were generally slightly higher (and marginally statistically significant) for men compared to women, heterogeneity analyses found no statistically significant difference in respiratory (RRR = 1.00, I 2 = 33%) or cardiovascular morbidity risk (RRR = 1.00, I 2 = 0%) by sex (Table 2 ).
