Root-to-tip regression analysis based on the maximum likelihood tree revealed a highly significant linear positive correlation between genetic distance and sampling time, with a strong temporal signal (R 2 = 0.8463), indicating that sampling time accounts for 84.63% of the genetic variation among the sequences ( Figure 4B ).
