Corresponding with our results, in the general population, an increasing trend in polypharmacy has been reported; Among US adults, the prevalence of polypharmacy rose from 8.2% in 1999 to 2000 to 17.1% in 2017 to 2018, with significantly higher rates observed among individuals with cardiovascular disease. 12 Several factors may contribute to this increase.
