Consistently, in women with current cervical cytological abnormalities, the overall prevalence of HPV reaches 79.1%, with a bimodal dynamic depending on age and an overrepresentation of high‐risk genotypes (notably HPV58, HPV52, HPV53, HPV16, and HPV18), resulting in a highly significant statistical association between HPV infection (whether “any type” or “HR‐HPV”) and abnormal smears [ 2 ].
