On further analysis, statistically significant correlations were observed among the different periodontal parameters studied with the age and gender of the subjects and the predicted tobacco/nicotine dependence which included potential correlations among age and PPD ( P value = 0.0420), age and CAL ( P value = 0.0040), gender and GI ( P value = 0.0320), gender and OHI-S ( P value = 0.0210), GI and OHI-S ( P value = 0.0240), GI and PPD ( P value = 0.0180), and GI and CAL ( P value = 0.0050), while the results were found to be statistically highly significant in case of the correlations derived between OHI-S and CAL ( P value = 0.0010) and PPD and CAL ( P value = 0.0001) with several clinical implications of interest.
