Our exploratory investigation of the relationship between IDAEP slope and stimulus dynamic range, while not quite significant, alludes to the possibility that there might be a more nuanced relationship to tinnitus; the onset period of tinnitus could, for instance, be associated with increased dynamic range adaptation, which can be considered a horizontal scaling or shift of a neuronal system’s input-output function to match the distribution of input stimulus intensities.
