3.3 Blood Flow During Oral Glucose Ingestion Over the 2‐h time course, oral water ingestion did not affect blood flow in the arteria mesenterica superior ( p = 0.078) but blood flow in vena portae hepatis increased subtly (mean of 7.6%, p = 0.0003), whereas blood flow in truncus coeliacus (7.0%, p = 0.039) and in arteria hepatica (8.0%, borderline significant, p = 0.053) decreased slightly (Table 3 , Figure 7 ).
