Whilst from 1990 to 2023 there was a positive trend in the reduction of population-attributable fraction (PAF) of stroke DALYs due to low ambient temperature (−34.1%; −29.3 to −39.2), air pollution (−22.0%; −16.9 to −27.0), smoking (−17.1%; −1.7 to −30.1), and second-hand smoking (−16.2%; −0.7 to −28.4), there was a significant increase in PAF of stroke DALYs due to high ambient temperature (122.0%; 72.3–300.5), high BMI (82.6%; 31.3–173.8), and lead exposure (12.1%; 3.6–25.8).
