41 , 42 p53 pathway alterations were found to be a highly significant determinant of unfavorable EFS and OS, despite being present in only five patients after exclusion of oncogene-amplified cases, indicating that defective p53 signaling identifies an aggressive biological phenotype that is not solely a surrogate of highly amplified genomes.
