After multivariable adjustment for age, sex, BMI, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and coronary artery disease, the associations between high risk category and impaired LA ejection fraction ( β = −4.61%, 95% CI −5.10 to −4.11%, P < .001) and elevated LA volume index ( β = + 5.39 ml/m 2 , 95% CI 4.76–6.02, P < .001) remained highly significant, confirming these structural abnormalities are not attributable to age alone ( Supplementary Table S2 ).
