However, the association between adult-onset hydrocephalus and incident epilepsy remained highly significant after excluding all subjects with a diagnosis of AD and a broader spectrum of parkinsonism or dementia syndromes which may also mimic or coexist with hydrocephalus, and subjects with conditions potentially mimicking epileptic seizures, suggesting that misdiagnosis or comorbidities are unlikely to drive our findings.
