Beclin ( BECN ), an upstream regulator in the autophagy cascade, showed a highly significant increase in relative gene expression following the combined treatment (SW-1353: 1.50 ± 0.1***; Cal78: 1.40 ± 0.2***; HC: 1.37 ± 0.1***) compared to both the untreated control and the VP-treated group ( Fig. 5 B).
