Regression coefficients for linear associations changed little and all values remained highly significant; the IRR increased from 0.72 to 0.74 for DKA, remained at 0.82 for SHH, and changed from 0.82 to 0.83 for retinopathy or maculopathy, implying that HbA 1c did not mediate the associations.
