Exploratory correlation analyses showed an associative trend between the density and utilisation of GPs in the respective federal states, however, not showing significance. 2019 data revealed a negative correlation between the number of inhabitants per ambulatory specialist and utilisation of specialists (Spearman’s rho correlation coefficient: −0.69, p = 0.04; Figure 1 ).
