The global estimates for new oral cancer cases and deaths in 2022 reached 389,485 and 188,230, respectively, indicating an increasing trend mainly affecting young people as well as certain geographic areas.[ 2 ] The global incidence of oral cancer stands at four per 100,000 individuals, with South Asia accounting for the maximum number of cases, with an incidence rate of 4.65 per 100,000 people.[ 3 ] The major causes that increase susceptibility to oral and/or oropharyngeal cancer include tobacco usage, alcohol intake, betel nut consumption, and human papillomavirus infection.[ 4 ] The treatment planning for oral cancer primarily depends on the stage of presentation.
