Notably, our compositional analysis revealed that even rare phyla, including Entotheonellaeota (FDR-adjusted p < 0.001), Spirochaetota (FDR-adjusted p < 0.001), and Abditibacteriota (FDR-adjusted p = 0.003), showed highly significant responses to salinity, indicating that environmental filtering operates across the full phylogenetic breadth of the bacterial community rather than selectively targeting dominant groups.
