Whilst kdr resistance does not yet appear to have a highly significant effect on the performance of ITNs for malaria control, it would be prudent to increase monitoring for resistance using standard WHO bioassays and molecular tests that can detect both metabolic resistance and target site insensitivity [ 19 , 20 ].
