For each of the ten partitions, an optimal number of genes (39, 99, 63, 53, 43, 84, 70, 27, 33, 18) could be readily identified, and the performance of the optimal classifiers in the two test sets was highly significant (range of weighted average D-index was 2.25 to 3.32 and all log-rank test p values < 0.05; see also Table 2 ).
