Misclassified wildtype tumors (that is, with the mutant-like signature; n = 26) showed highly significant underexpression of several known direct target genes of p53, as well as the p53 gene itself, whereas p53 mutant tumors with the wildtype-like signature ( n = 12) showed significantly higher expression of the p53 target genes than other mutant tumors.
