Event-specific cumulative incidence curves were thus estimated from the decomposition of the EFS curves and a computer program (COMPETE) developed at the Institut Gustave-Roussy was used for the calculations. Results obtained using the competing risk approach were compared to the method of ignoring or censoring other events for the data provided here. Results The EFS curves for the three groups are shown in Figure 1. The difference in EFS between the low risk group and both high risk groups was highly significant (P<0.0001).
