In nude mice 25mgkg-' 5,6-MeXAA had no statistically significant effect on tumour growth in two independent experiments (Figure 2a), however on increasing this dose to 30mgkg-' a small growth delay of 4.2 days was observed but deaths were seen. 5,6-MeXAA showed a highly significant effect against MAC15A tumours in NMRI mice, with tumour regression and a 13.3 day growth delay (P<0.01) observed at 28mg kg-' (Figure 2b).
