There was no loss in catalase activity from supernatant fractions when the small granules were centri- fuged, and the addition of Triton to small granule-containing fractions resulted in no increased activity, although a large proportion of these particles was disrupted by this substance. It now seems quite cIear that variations in degree of homogenization may easily result in widely different catalase activities in the resulting homogenates.
