Further support is furnished by the present data on Chironomus. These results seem even more informative than earlier base analyses in the respect that both the nucleolar and cytoplasmic RNA's are strikingly different from both the ribosomal RNA that is usually encountered in animal tissues and the soluble RNA (12). Although the nucleolar and cytoplasmic RNA's are similar there is a highly significant difference between them in the G/U quotient.
