The suppression of the initial Ca2+ spike by 1,2-DOG is highly significant and leads to the same conclusion as the effects of PKC inhibitors, that a chemoat- tractant-induced increase in DAG and PKC activity causes flattening and lamellipod extension and limits the magnitude of the initial Ca2/ spike.
