Therefore, since both mutation and deletion of the potential nuclear localization signal of glypican in two different types of constructs (i.e., β-galactosidase and Fc fusion proteins) produced highly significant decreases in their nuclear localization, it is likely that this basic sequence is a functional nuclear localization signal.
