(Glyco)sphingolipids are sorted in sub-apical compartments in HepG2 cells: a role for non-Golgi-related intracellular sites in the polarized distribution of (glyco)sphingolipids.

Not only did the latter lipid show a strong preference for a localization in the apical region of the cell, as reflected by the fact that ∼90% of the BCP remained labeled with this lipid during a chase of at least 30 min, there was also an apparent trend of its time-dependent translocation from SAC to the BC.
