As shown by a comparison of the incidence of these pathologies in DNA-PKcs −/− /Terc +/+ , G1 DNA-PKcs −/− /Terc −/− , and G2 DNA-PKcs −/− /Terc −/− cohorts with the corresponding data from their respective DNA-PKcs wild-type littermates, i.e., with DNA-PKcs +/+ /Terc +/+ , G1 DNA-PKcs +/+ /Terc −/− , and G2 DNA-PKcs +/+ /Terc −/− cohorts, ablation of DNA-PKcs caused a highly significant (P < 0.01) increase of senile lesions in young mice ( Fig. 5 B, black bars versus gray bars).
