Furthermore, lpr mice exhibited a comparable suppression of BM and blood values in the presence of highly activated NK cells (data not shown) 3 d after LCMV infection; this documents a minor significance of the Fas receptor–Fas ligand system of NK cells, because a nonoperational apoptotic signaling in lpr mice did not revert LCMV-induced transient depression of hematopoiesis.
