Although the height distributions were similar for the contrasting stimuli, the total chi square statistic revealed a significant difference between the two at the 5% level. The presence of a significant chi square for two of the seven cells studied is an improbable event for the hypothesis tested and suggests that if more experiments were performed the total chi square might be significant at the 5% level.
