LNCaP ITS+ and DU-145 ITS+ cells showed a very slight increase (~17% and 13%, respectively) in colony formation post-treatment with the RAR agonists. However, statistical analysis of the actual number of colonies seen on control (untreated) vs agonist-treated plates revealed that an increase in colony formation only approached significant in the case of LNCaP ITS+ cells (P = 0.15) and was not signifi- cant in the case of DU-145 ITS+ cells (P = 0.8).
