In this context, we found a highly significant correlation between the low degrees of NK cell-mediated lysis of p24 pos /CD4 neg blasts and the decreased NK cell surface levels of NKp46 and NKp30, indicating that the low levels of expression of these two activating NK cell receptors negatively contribute to the killing of HIV-1 infected cells.
