Although hexose concentrations were increased, the sucrose content declined significantly ( Figure 5a,d ), leading to a highly significant increase in the hexose-to-sucrose ratio in A. thaliana ( Figure 5b ) and N. tabacum ( Figure 5e ) seedlings.
