By running the same experimental protocol on the two ipsilateral stimulation sites in HVC, we found that CCs between corresponding LE curves were positive (average CC 0.36, range 0.25 to 0.46, n = 3 birds), illustrating that the dependence of stimulation effects on electrode position within HVC is weak and demonstrating that the anticorrelation of stimulation effectiveness in bilateral stimulation experiments was highly significant.
