This concept led us to develop a method of analyzing the SS receptor status in patients with GEP tumors by measuring SS receptors with autoradiography on small-needle biopsies from liver metastases [27]. By this method, the functionality of these tumoral SS receptors can be investigated; JEAN-CLAUDE REUBI in 31 cases of GEP tumors, a highly significant correlation was found between the SS receptor status and the ability of octreotide to inhibit in vivo hormone secretion [27; see also paper by Kvols et al. in this symposium].
