However, the rate of change of these two functions was dissimilar. The increase in weight preceded the increase in filtration and was already highly significant statistically 24 hours after the removal of the opposite kidney, when the glomerular filtration rate was not different from that calculated for one kidney in the intact animal (Fig. 1).
