Hence, the bootstrap-t-test needs at least 16 records per gene in order to avoid a severely upwards bias in the P-values of the most significant genes, and thus a too high predicted FDR for the most significant effects. Hence, a small number of records makes the approximation of the distribu- tion of the data too poor in the tails to make predictions about the P-values of highly significant genes.
