From its inception, the UC Davis BIRCWH program has focused on four interacting areas of women’s health, three of which are highly significant in the prevention of cardiovascular disease: (1) metabolic and nutrition-related syndromes and their repercussions for women; (2) cardiovascular science and its relationship to gender; and (3) lifespan biology and transitions, such as early development, adolescence, and menopause, that bring unique risks to females.
