Overall, the results here indicate that recovery from TBI is associated with three important changes in resting networks: 1) a reduction in the number of highly significant connections in the overall network (strength S ), or reduced “cost”, but little to no change in the number of connections, or sparsity; 2) a transition of the degree distribution from a power law with exponential decay at three months post injury to a stretched exponential decay at six months post injury; 3) increasing “small-worldness” during recovery, but residually diminished small-worldness compared to the HC sample.
