Although we found a positive trend, the relationship was not significant (logarithmic regression: R 2 = 0.22, F 1,6 = 1.45; p = 0.28) due to one outlying data point ( P. nyererei × A. calliptera , cross 7; the exclusion of this outlier resulted in a strong positive correlation: R 2 = 0.81, F 1,5 = 17.32; p = 0.014).
