Over-expression of dsxM during development was toxic to males and females and produced only a limited number of adult escapers, while over-expression of dsxM in adults caused a small but statistically significant reduction in male and female life span, -5.5% and -7.8%, respectively (Figure 3G, H and Table 4 Exp1); however, this apparent reduction in life span upon over-expression of dsxM in adults may not be significant, as it was similar in magnitude to the small variation in life span observed in controls.
