A 2 × 2 ANOVA of reaction times with factors rhyming (rhyming, nonrhyming) and spelling (congruent, incongruent) did indeed reveal an interaction in the predicted direction, with relatively faster responses for rhyme trials sharing spellings and relatively slower responses for nonrhyme trials with similar spellings, but this effect fell short of significance ( F 1,11 = 2.92, P = 0.12).
