Indeed, if we pool the data from the four isofemale lines, the parasites that had evolved in the two generalist regimes ( mixture and alternating ) tended to have higher infectivity on average (63.5% ± 2.6% standard error) than the specialist parasites (58.5% ± 1.9% s.e.), although this difference was not quite statistically significant (logistic analysis: χ 2 = 3.00, df = 1, p = 0.083).
